埼玉県八潮市の県道交差点で、道路が突然陥没し、走行中のトラックが転落。男性運転手が陥没穴に取り残されました。

A truck has fallen into a hole in part of a busy intersection near Tokyo that caved in on Tuesday morning. Efforts are underway to rescue the driver.

Witnesses reported that the ground collapsed moments before the truck drove over the area, sending the vehicle plummeting into the chasm.

A woman who lives near the site said she heard a thunderous noise, looked out and saw the hole. She said what looked like the bed of a truck gradually sank and disappeared from her view.

The sinkhole is about 10 meters in diameter and 10 meters deep. During the rescue operation, another cave-in occurred near the original site, while a crane was being used to pull out the truck.

The city government and other authorities have issued an evacuation advisory to residents within a 200-meter radius.

破損した下水道管に土砂が流れ込み、地中に空洞ができたとみられています。
It is believed that damage to a sewer pipe allowed soil to flow into it, creating an underground cavity. Water likely from a broken sewer pipe was seeping in.

In fiscal 2021, a visual inspection confirmed corrosion in some parts of the pipe, but it was determined that repairs were not necessary.
