Japan's first case of monkeypox has been confirmed in Tokyo. The health ministry says a Tokyo resident in his 30s with a recent history of overseas travel tested positive on Monday.

風土病とされていましたが、今年5月から世界的に広がりを見せ、世界保健機関(WHO)は「国際的に懸念される公衆衛生上の緊急事態」を宣言していました。
Monkeypox is not a new disease, and in some African countries, it is endemic. However, the international outbreak which began in May 2022, has prompted the World Health Organization (WHO) to declare a global health emergency.

潜伏期間後、発熱、頭痛、筋肉痛、リンパ節の腫れなどの症状が出ます。
Symptoms of the disease include fever, headaches, muscle pains, extensive rashes, skin lesions, and swollen lymph nodes following an incubation period of five to 21 days.

人が発症した一例目は1970年のコンゴ。アフリカ以外では、ペットのプレーリードッグから2003年にアメリカで流行。
人間、齧歯類=rodentが感染するa zoonotic viral disease (動物原性感染症)です。
Human monkeypox was first identified in 1970 in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) in a 9-month-old boy.
In 2003, the first Monkeypox outbreak outside Africa was reported in the United States and was linked to contact with infected pet prairie dogs.
接触感染で同性愛者の間で多いことから、エイズの時のような偏見も心配されています。
Anyone can get monkeypox, but a "notable fraction" of cases in the global outbreak are among gay and bisexual men.
That doesn't mean the virus is sexually transmitted, but prolonged skin-to-skin contact is one of the major ways monkeypox is now spreading.
